WORKING WITH THE WHITE HOUSE & THE .PRESIDENT PLATFORM
Had an incredible conference call with the CTO of the White House Aneesh Chopra. Although he is leaving his post very quickly, he has left behind some bad ass incubator stuff among other things. Through a series of events we bumped into a member of the Social Media team, who about hearing about the National Presidents Association (a college network of 500,000 students me, Craig, Simon, and Zack Jenkins [you don’t know him yet but you will!] run) the White House will be sending important initiatives directly to us at the NPA for syndication.
On that note, yesterday announced the new “.President” platform which is a community of our technology initiatives within the NPA. It’s one login to a wide array of software and opportunities to engage college students. The content from the DOE is going out on the network now, and we are currently working with the Dept. of Education to bring you your very first app challenge for education.
What I have not told them yet, is I think there should be a universal app store for the government where each department has engaging and interactive applications availible for a range of smartphones to allow for increased awareness of some of the really cool stuff the government is up too (who would have thought!) I am thinking: www.app.gov right?? right??? I will let you know how the talks go, but literally on the conference line last time was the head of the DOE, Aneesh, and now we just need to pull in the DOE and DOD.
